*An Oxford University study [published in the journal Nature](https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-022-04569-5?ref=europeans.today) has found that COVID-19 can cause the brain to shrink between 0.2% and 2%, reduce grey matter in the regions controlling emotions and memory, and damage the areas that control the sense of smell.*
