UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, José Francisco Calí Tzay, praised the Holy See for rejecting the Doctrine of Discovery. He said the doctrine is still an open wound for many Indigenous Peoples and must be addressed as part of a reconciliation process.
