NHS Staff Council accepts Government’s revised pay offer, while other unions reject it
The NHS Staff Council, representing over a million NHS staff in England, has accepted the government’s revised pay offer for 2022-23 and 2023-24.
The NHS Staff Council, representing over a million NHS staff in England, has accepted the government’s revised pay offer for 2022-23 and 2023-24.
The deal was negotiated between the health secretary, Steve Barclay, and unions, with all but one union recommending it.
While some unions, including Unison and the GMB, have accepted the offer, others such as the Royal College of Nursing and Unite have decided to reject it. Despite this, the unions that accepted the offer had enough voting power to ensure that the Staff Council voted in favour of it.
As the Council represents all NHS staff in England, excluding doctors and dentists, the deal is expected to be imposed on all 12 unions, including those that oppose it.
