Public support for UK in European army rises
Nearly half of Britons support a European army, signalling openness to defence cooperation despite Brexit. However, scepticism over military funding and Europe’s security without U.S. backing highlights lingering strategic concerns.
A new YouGov poll reveals growing public support for the creation of a European army that includes the United Kingdom. 46% of Britons back the idea, with 31% somewhat supporting it and 15% strongly in favour. Opposition remains low at 28%, while 26% are undecided.
The findings suggest an openness to deeper European defence cooperation despite lingering uncertainties over NATO’s future and the UK’s post-Brexit security role.
