The TACO trade war
Wall Street dubs Trump’s tariff flip-flopping “TACO” — Trump Always Chickens Out — highlighting scepticism over his tough talk, often giving way to retreat later. | Today’s Political Cartoon.
Wall Street analysts have recently poked fun at Donald Trump’s unpredictable tariff strategies by coining a new acronym: “TACO” (meaning “Trump Always Chickens Out”).
During a press conference, when a journalist mentioned the nickname, Trump reacted angrily and dismissed the label, citing his earlier strong tariffs, particularly against the EU.
Nonetheless, there are good reasons to remain sceptical, as his history indicates that his bravado frequently yields to retreat.
