The Britannia Card scam
Nigel Farage’s golden ‘Britannia Card’ favours billionaires, risks making Britain a tax haven, and may deepen social and economic divisions. But does he even care? | Today’s Political Cartoon.
Nigel Farage and his party, Reform UK, have introduced a new proposal which claims to support the poorest workers by imposing taxes on wealthy newcomers. In reality, this is an attempt to position Britain as a tax haven for the ultra-wealthy.
Such a move would be welcomed by billionaires, while ordinary families and elderly citizens would likely feel excluded and concerned that the wealthy would become even richer.
Farage’s ‘Britannia Card’ would create loopholes allowing billionaires to secure entry into Britain and avoid paying their fair share of taxes. At the same time, ordinary workers would be left behind, revealing the party’s true priorities and further widening social and economic divides.
