All aboard the strike train! Aslef announces three 24-hour strikes
The train drivers’ union, Aslef, has declared three 24-hour strikes on 12 May, 31 May, and 3 June.
The train drivers’ union, Aslef, has declared three 24-hour strikes on 12 May, 31 May, and 3 June.
These strikes will affect the government-contracted train operating companies in England, including intercity operators and commuter services spread across England, as well as some cross-border services to Scotland and Wales.
Alongside the strikes, Aslef has also imposed an overtime ban for the week of 15 to 20 May, as well as for 13 May and 1 June. This is expected to result in significant disruptions to train operators, who rely on voluntary rest-day work to operate their full schedule.
The strikes come after the union refused what it called a “risible” 4% a year for two years pay offer.
