A British farmer donated £100,000 to fund a meeting of Brazil’s Indigenous people in the Amazon, motivated by his climate concerns, his near-death experience with COVID-19, and his respect for Indigenous wisdom.
L ast week, the meeting of hundreds of Brazil’s Indigenous people in the Amazon rainforest was made possible thanks to a last-minute personal donation from Hylton Murray-Philipson, a climate-concerned British farmer.
With a funding gap of over £100,000 due to another sponsor pulling out, Murray-Philipson stepped in to cover the costs. Despite it being ten times more than his previous charitable donations, he believed it was necessary to respond to the escalating threat of climate breakdown.
