Donald Trump’s foreign-policy messaging often follows a familiar pattern: announcing momentum, asserting leverage, and portraying ambiguity as a victory.

However, reporting on the most recent Iran-U.S. discussions indicates that both sides perceive very different realities.

Trump is publicly presenting the negotiations as if the U.S. pressure campaign forced Iran toward a deal — saying an agreement has been “largely negotiated” and implying Washington is close to dictating terms.

Iranian officials and aligned media are portraying the same diplomacy in a contrasting manner though: that Tehran successfully resisted military and economic pressures long enough to compel the United States to accept Iran’s framework for negotiations and a phased settlement.
